A New Year- 2013

Bringing in the new year was wonderful with amazing friends and new memories. I know our parents always warned us but where does the time go! As we get older, the years seem to fly by. This last year was full of changes for Danny and I, the biggest one buying our house!

I never like to make New Year's Resolutions, or at least I don't like to call them that. The second I do, they are bound to fail and after twenty-five years of trying to stick to them, I have given up. However, there are things we want to get done this year but these are things that we have been talking about for a while. Maybe if I just say goals, or ideas instead of "resolutions" they will happen...

1) Put up a fence and plant grass in our backyard. This will make it so much easier to let the dog out and have BBQ's with friends and family.

2) Travel. We are hoping to travel to Thailand in April-ish. Although we are still figuring out the logistics of this it is looking hopeful. I will be using all my vacation but it will be worth it!

3) Take more pictures. Simply put, we are terrible about this and need to get better.

3) Buy a car! I just sold my car. A '99 Ford Escort that I have had since high school. Since Danny and I have the ability to commute to work together it really takes the need for a second car down. My car was old and we were always trying to avoid using it. It was a good car, but it is time for change. With one car it might be a little tough at times but we can make it work; especially since it will only be for about a month. We are hoping to make it to President's Day Weekend.

4) Go camping more. We say this EVERY YEAR. And every year our summers get so busy! We both love to do it, we just need to make ourselves get out there. We live in a beautiful state and it is so convenient for us to drive an hour or so out and camp.

5) This last one is more of a personal goal for me. I really want to try and volunteer more. It is something that has had a huge impact on me throughout my life. I traveled to Tijuana with my church in high school, volunteered throughout college giving up several spring breaks, and have helped with the Boys and Girls Clubs, Girl Scouts, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Every time, I have learned so much about myself and felt so much compassion towards others. However, sadly, it is also very easy to make excuses on reasons to not volunteer.

So there it is. Our "goals" for the new year. Now that it is posted on our blog, maybe we will feel the need to follow through? Maybe?
